Fundraiser Update!

Hey everybody, let me begin by thanking everyone for all the support. We continue to be amazed at all the different people, as well as different ways, that people are reaching out to help us during this challenging fundraising process. Here's a breakdown of what we are currently working on, and please, any other ideas, please send them our way:

1.) Our t-shirts have been ordered (gonna be awesome by the way), should be available early next week. Still bouncing idea's around on the price..... Thinking $20 for adults, and $15 for youth maybe?!?! Thoughts? As soon as we get them in I'll upload some pictures of them here.
2.) Leslie has received a ton of cupcake orders :) Especially for the bourbon ball cupcakes! We are so grateful to all of you who ordered cupcakes, told others to order, or simply shared the page on your Facebook. We certainly can't raise this money alone, and we are thankful to have you all in our lives!
3.) My wonderful stepmother LaStacia had a great idea about creating a cookbook and selling it to raise money. I think this is a great idea, as we have so many incredible cooks in this family, these cookbooks would sell themselves :) I'll post more on that as it develops.
4.) We have already received some great donations for our yard sale. I have a feeling that the yard sale is going to be the big money-maker!! Also, it's not too late if you still have stuff to donate. We aren't doing the main yard sale until sometime in June in Locust Creek neighborhood, but if you would like to help out and host one sooner, we would be thrilled and would bring all the stuff to you!
5.) Our Just Love Coffee fundraiser is still going on as well so for all of you coffee drinkers out there, here's a chance to get some delicious coffee, and help us raise money.
6.) We are very much looking forward to fundraising with during the month of June so please check back as it nears and I'll have more information.
7.) We are also doing one large party for the ladies that will have a variety of vendors and fundraisers going on. Please take a look at the list below, and if you have any interest in attending, please leave a comment, or send me an email. There's more to be added so please check back. We don't have a date yet, but as soon as we do, I'll post it on the Fundraising Efforts page at the top of the blog.
    Adorable Aprons/  Brenda Boer
     Pampered Chef/ Andrianna Felsoci
     Thirty One Gifts/ Amanda Hammond
     Tastefully Simple/ Stephanie Davis
     Scentsy/Melissa Blakely
     Premier Jewelery/Kelley Riggs

At the top of the page their is a link to our fundraising efforts. Check back often as I usually keep that pretty up-to-date.

T-Shirt Requests!

Today is the day Leslie and I finally get over to the t-shirt shop and place our order :) We have received a great number of t-shirt requests already, but if you have forgotten to do so, and would still like to pre-order one, please let us know before 3:00pm today. We are going to order extra's of most of the sizes so we can continue to sell them on our blog, as well as all of our fundraising events, but to ensure that we will have your size, pre-ordering is recommended.

Our plan is to order the Minus One shirts in the women's and youth sizes, and the Out of Love shirts for the men's. We are going to see about possibly ordering others of both, so if you have any interest, please let us know. Love you guys!!!

Lots Of News To Share :)

First, I just want to thank God for each and every one of you! And thanks be to God for all the good news we have to share with you today. Some of it is more important than other parts, but nonetheless, it's all good news!!

We had two more (as we've had several already) very generous donations that were made towards our adoption fund. The first was a check that practically floored Leslie as she was walking in with the mail. It absolutely blew us away because this couple has already done so much. Yet, if you knew them, it wouldn't be a big surprise because this is just who they are (You  know who you are guys, we love you!).

And our second donation has to do with the t-shirts we are having made. Someone has very generously offered to pay all the upfront costs for the t-shirts so all the proceeds can go directly to the adoption fund. This is just incredible! I had been thinking before that we would have to sell quite a few before we started making a profit but now, thanks to these wonderful people, every penny brought in from these shirts can go to bringing our sweet little baby home (Thank you all again, your generosity continues to amaze us, and we love you so much!!). Again, if I was to name these people, it would come as no shock to you because this is what they do. They live to bless others! If you are reading this and would like to pre-order a shirt (or post depending on when you're reading this), let us know when you can as we are trying to determine a quantity of shirts to order. Thanks :)

A couple other things, on a much smaller scale, our blog has reached the 1000 mark with regards to page-views (actually about 1020ish now)!! Thank you all who keep coming back to check on us, and see where we are in our journey.

Other very exciting news, has graciously offered to sponsor us for the month of June so all the proceeds from their fit bands will go towards our adoption costs. This is incredibly generous of them, and we are so appreciative of their efforts. I will post more information as our June fundraiser approaches.

And lastly, my very sweet wife, heeding my pleas to not spend much on my birthday, graciously ordered me some delicious coffee from our Just Love Coffee website. Not only does the money go to a good cause, but we also get some back to go towards the adoption! Thanks Sweetie :)

My birthday is coming up this Friday, the 20th, and to those who may be wondering what I want :) I want to bring our baby home as soon as possible!! So if you feel like donating or supporting our cause, not only is it a great birthday gift, but you're helping us to achieve our goal of one less orphan in the world. Thanks and love!!

Little Sisters!!!

Sorry I'm terrible at taking pictures!
Friday night Leslie and I got to babysit my beautiful little sisters (Caroline and Sophie) and our adorable little niece (Macy), and yet again, they were just another reminder of how ready we are to have children of our own.

We had soooooo much fun! Between the pizza and jumping on a trampoline, if that's what having kids is all about, then where do I sign?! By the time we got home, we were absolutely wiped!! Couldn't get to bed fast enough, but it was so worth it. All in all, we got through the night with no fatal injuries, and minimal crying.......I think we're ready for kids of our own :)

Here's a couple more pictures below. Sorry for the poor quality, they were having so much fun, it was hard to get them to stay still long enough, to get a good shot. Trust me, I tried.

Lastly, we added a Prayer Requests page at the top of the blog, so if you would like to pray for us, we have some specific things we would love for you to be praying about. Also, if you yourself are in need of any prayer, don't hesitate to reach out to us. We would be honored to pray for you.

I really need some feedback guys and gals! I'm sitting here at work playing around with some t-shirt ideas :)  I know, I know, I'm supposed to be working, but I don't feel like it. It's FRIDAY!!!

Anyways, I think the design up top is my favorite so far. It would be awesome on a black shirt, or maybe even a dark gray. I'm in desperate need of feedback, so please, comment away!! Also, check out our Fundraising Efforts page to find some designs done by the very talented Ryan Hahn. Love you all.

Please continue to keep us in your prayers, and help spread the word. T-shirts and other fundraisers will hopefully be coming soon so check back often, we would love for you to be a part of this journey with us. Love you guys!! God bless!!

World's Greatest Cupcakes, Right Here In Louisville!

Banana Pudding Cupcakes
I'm not just saying this because Leslie is my wife, but she can cook up a mean cupcake!!! Her latest creation; Banana Pudding Cupcake. Real pieces of banana in the cake batter, injected with banana pudding, homemade whip cream icing, and a vanilla wafer on top. They were a huge hit with the family yesterday at Easter.

We would like to offer her services to anyone that may be hosting a wedding shower, baby shower, or birthday party in and around Louisville, Shelbyville, or Southern Indiana in exchange for donations to our Adoption Fund. She can do a variety of flavors, so if you have any questions, shoot us an email, talk to us on Facebook, or leave a comment below and we will get back to you immediately.

We also might do some bake sales to raise money, so if you're interested in having her make you some, this would be a good opportunity to try them out. Hope everybody had a great Easter weekend! Love you all.

Reflections on this beautiful Good Friday!

This coming weekend, I feel it's important to put aside all adoption related talk, and just focus on the risen Savior. I'm not saying I won't think about adoption, because I know I won't stop praying for my future child, but what I mean is, instead of posting about fundraising, or completing our dossier, let's just reflect on Christ, and ALL that He has done for us.

Father God ,
We thank you so much for your Son, and for the forgiveness
and healing that comes through Him. Continue to remind
us that we have been bought at a price, and that price was
the blood of Christ. The perfect and spotless lamb took our
rightful place on the cross so we wouldn't have to. To you
be all the glory, forever and ever.

Men, It's Time To Man Up!

As most of you know, Leslie and I are still very much in the beginning of our adoption journey, but something has caught my attention. Now, let me apologize in advance, because I am certainly not looking to offend any of you men out there, I'm just taken back by something. I have been pouring over all the different adoption blogs out there and I noticed something, they're almost all written by the moms.

Granted, they are all written very well =) but nonetheless, written mostly by women. Why do you suppose that is? Now we all know women are definitely smarter, so it's safe to assume they will be better written if done so by the ladies, by why else? Within the adoption community, everywhere you look, you see two very committed, loving people adopting, but we only hear from one side.

Today I'm issuing a challenge to the adoptive fathers out there to start your own blog, or at least, post from time to time on the family adoption blog. Your opinion is just as important, and to other people such as myself, it may be the preferred one (just kidding ladies, we know the men don't have opinions).

In all seriousness, we need more men out there speaking up about adoption. The women have carried us long enough. It's time to stand up, take action, and most importantly, be the men God has called us to be. No longer will the women be alone in advocating adoption, and it's purpose within God's kingdom. We men will shoulder that responsibility.

For all you men out there, check out They have a wealth of information available to you. Easy site to navigate, plus tons of helpful interviews, articles, videos, and more.

Made A Big Step Last Night...

Another T-Shirt Idea Maybe?!
Well, the ol' wallet is certainly getting lighter :) We made our first payment last night to Lifeline, as well as turned in our signed contract. These are big steps people!!! Still very early in the process, but we're making some great headway. Now we have to get cracking on our educational requirements, completing our dossier, and some serious FUNDRAISING (more on that later)...

It's amazing that in just two short months we have already come this far (Leslie you're amazing). For those of you who don't know, I'm pretty sure Leslie is some kind of superhero! Her ability to focus in on some insurmountable stack of adoption paperwork, and knock it out with relative ease, is simply astonishing. Where would I be without her?? It's times like these that I thank God for her obsessive nature (LOL) because without it, we would still be back at the beginning =) Thanks honey!!!

Guys and gals of whom we love so much, please keep us in your prayers. This is going to be a long and arduous journey, but thank God for each and every one of you. Please post a link to our blog on your Facebook, or whatever social media you may use because we desperately need your help. There's no possible way we can do this without you.

And P.S. - Please feel free to comment on my punctuation and things of that nature, just remember that I hold the power of deletion in MY hand, and I'm not afraid to use it.

T-Shirt Design Idea.....Feedback?

As we continue to mourn over our loss, we press on with the adoption. Some may wonder why we don't take a break, or slow down. Or simply put it on the back burner for a while, and I can say with full confidence, it's because of what we are going through, that I want to press on that much harder. The only way I can describe it is by saying this......Experiencing this loss the way we did, and not being able to fight on it's behalf, makes me want to fight that much harder for our baby in Ethiopia. Knowing that there was absolutely nothing I could do brings me down hard to my knees. But what lifts me right back up is the thought of our baby in a far away country, desperately needing someone to fight for them. To those who may wonder, I hope that will suffice....

Now, the t-shirt idea.....Drum-roll please?!?!?!.................
This is just a preliminary design ( I say preliminary because I don't know what I'm doing here :) and I'm waiting for someone more talented to help) so if anyone has any ideas, please, shoot me an email. Or even better, leave a comment that way we can get other people's opinions on it as well. I think I have found a place in New Albany that is going to give us a great price on them, and because of that, I think we'll be selling them for $15ish maybe?!?! Any thoughts?

Desperate Need of Prayer...

There are certain times in life where it becomes much easier to say that you're a Christian than to actually live out that faith. As I type this, this is one of those times. We love the Lord. Have placed our faith in the Lord. Accept His will wholeheartedly for our lives. But right now, as we mourn the loss of our first pregnancy (only days after discovering we were) due to miscarriage, it's become increasingly difficult.

I beg you please, keep us in your prayers. Ask God to give us peace with our loss, and to trust that His will be done, and through it, only He will be glorified. We love you so much, and your prayers and support through the process of healing would mean the world to us. With love.....
