As I write this, my new born son is laying in the hospital. Crying out for food, attention, or maybe just because. I want nothing more than to go to him, squeeze him tight, and tell him that he has a mother and father that loves him more than he'll ever know.

I also want to tell him that he has a Heavenly Father that created him just the way he is, and specifically for us. And that he is an absolute blessing from the Lord. One that we have prayed for, for a very long time.

Lincoln Michael, our son, your forever family is here, and is anxiously waiting to come pick you up tomorrow. We love you with all our hearts!!! 'Til tomorrow......

Patience Is A Virtue....That I Don't Have!!

I've always thought of myself as a very patient man. With pretty much everything in life, I can just sort of go with the flow. However, something has changed of late. Over the past couple days, I have convinced myself that our little Christmas baby is coming early (even though his due date is now the 14th), so early that I'm literally staring at my phone all day, waiting for it to ring. I don't want to go to the gym; don't want to play guitar; nothing. Please pray that I don't have a nervous breakdown before he gets here!!!

Also, I tracked our dossier for our Ethiopian adoption and it's en route to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Set to arrive Tuesday, December 11th. Yay!! Hopefully soon after it's arrival we'll know our wait list number :) Might even work out that we have our son and find out our wait list number on the same day (would be an awesome day).

Thank you all so much for supporting us along our journey. We have the best friends, family, and followers anyone could ever ask for. Without each and every one of you, we wouldn't be where we are today. God bless you all!

The Waiting Game!

Not a whole lot to report as of late. We're waiting to hear back from Lifeline about our being put on the waiting list (since we finally finished our dossier), and we're still waiting for our little Christmas miracle to come. Hopefully soon!! Last week we finished our candle fundraiser and ended up raising more than we expected :) That seems to be how God operates these days...

This holding pattern we're in can get frustrating at times but we know it's all in God's timing. We'll get on the Ethiopian waiting list eventually (in His timing); we'll get our little Christmas angel in the next several weeks (in His timing); all of the necessary funds will His timing. We are truly blessed!!! Love you all.

God Bless All You Birth Mothers!

You are simply amazing. Words can't describe the incredible blessing you give an adopting family. And I'm afraid, now, as I type this, my thanks still won't be enough. You should be honored and celebrated beyond anything we can do here in this life. Please trust me in this; you are storing up riches in heaven beyond anything you could possibly imagine. Your self-less decision to choose life over death is more Christ-like than any other. We should all follow suit in placing life and love of others, above our own selfish desires. God bless each and every one of you that have had to make that decision.

My sister recently reminded me of how joyful we must be that my mother's birth mom chose life over death. She chose to give her to the most amazing woman, my grandmother, and through her, we have all been blessed.

To every one of you that has chosen life over death, from the bottom of my heart, thank you! Your decision has blessed more people than you can possibly imagine. God bless!

Birth Mother is 33 Weeks :)

Hey everybody. Hope all is well! I wanted to update everybody on our birth mother's progress. She's knocking on the door of 33 weeks (tomorrow I think officially). According to, he should be over 4 lbs. and roughly 17 inches long.... Wow.... Growing like a weed  :)  Love you guys.

Father God, my prayer to you is that you continue to strengthen us,
and prepare us for the journey that lies ahead. We know it won't be
easy. And we know we have to rely on you. Be with our birth mother
as she gets closer to the big day. Provide for her every need, and love
on her as only her true heavenly Father can. With loves and thanks.
In Jesus name. Amen.

Goodbye Dossier :)

So long paperwork. Farewell old friend. You'll be missed. I guess we'll have to find some other way to spend ALL of our free time since we won't be spending it on you anymore!

May the wind always be at your back, and the sun shine warm upon your.......Envelope?!  God speed!!!

Gold Canyon Candle Fundraiser

Hey guys. Time for yet another fundraiser  :)  We just found out yesterday that our grant request was turned down by Gift of Adoption, so hopefully we can make up for it here (we'd have to sell a lot of candles though). Our friend Paige, is a consultant for Gold Canyon, and she's got us set up to sell candles to raise money for our adoptions. They are awesome candles, and last FOREVER!

If you're in the Louisville area, and need some great Christmas gifts, let me know and we'll get some ordered for you. Or if you're wanting to support us through a different avenue, we still have t-shirts and wristbands available as well.

Thanks for all the support. Love you guys!

Orphan Sunday (Yesterday)

Unbeknownst to us Sunday, November 4th was Orphan Sunday. It was also our baby shower for our little angel coming via domestic adoption. We are roughly fifty days away from his expected due date (Christmas!!). We officially have too much baby stuff already, and he's not even here yet :) And there might even be more showers coming!

To all of you who came out and supported us, THANK YOU. It meant so much to us. We have the greatest friends and family we could ever ask for. And I don't know what we would do without you.

Please pray with us that our little angel comes early enough so we don't encounter any delays from the court closings. Pray that God will deliver the funds necessary to complete this adoption. Pray that, above all, God is glorified, and His love is reflected through us all. God bless you all!

My Amazing Wife :)

I think I may have mentioned in a previous post that I'm married to Superwoman, but let me say it again, "I'm married to Superwoman." There is something in her that can make enormous stacks of paperwork, seemingly disappear. She's truly incredible, and I thank God for her (probably not often enough though).

Because of her hard work, we will be COMPLETELY done with our dossier within the next week :) Truly amazing. I just don't know what I would do without her!

When we submit our dossier, we'll be needing to make a payment of roughly $2,400. We have it, however, we were saving it for our upcoming domestic adoption expenses. We're not really sure what's going to happen, but we know God will provide. He always does!! Love you guys.

Both Hands Volunteers?!?

Work Day - March 2013
Hey guys!!! I mentioned in an earlier post about doing the Both Hands project and though we're at the very beginning stages, we need to get our team of volunteers established. For those who don't know, our volunteers will be the ones giving their life away for the day to bless a widow. We're praying that God will make clear who our widow will be. For the time being, we're not sure of exactly what the work will be; probably some kind of painting, cleaning, landscaping, etc.

Here's a quick run-down of how the Both Hands project works: First we have to establish our core group of volunteers that will be helping us do the work. Then we need to find a widow and assess her needs. Our volunteers then send out letters to their friends and family asking them to sponsor them for the day. Next we contact our local home improvement stores to get all the materials donated. Final step is showing up on our designated work day, and blessing the widow. (There are other steps, however these are the main ones)

At this point you might be asking, "What about the orphan?" All the money that gets raised from the sponsorship letters goes directly to our adoption agency as a tax-deductible (for the donor) donation :) The widow gets blessed, and our little Ethiopian angel is one step closer to coming home. Such a great project to be associated with. From checking out other peoples projects that they've done, I've seen raised any where from $5,000 to $15,000. Even if we're at the low end of that, we would be so thrilled!

We're looking to get around 30 to 40 people so if you're interested, and your in the Louisville area, let us know. Or if you'd like to sponsor some of our workers, that would be great too, just send me an email and we'll work it all out. Thank you so much and God bless you all!!

2 Months Away!!

According to the app on my phone, our little guy is expected to arrive in just over two months (62 days)!! I feel like a little kid that knows what he's getting for Christmas, but he's not allowed to open it until that morning. If I could just get myself to think about something else for a little while, maybe it would go by a little quicker. Oh well, I can't help it :)

Thanks for all the prayers and support guys. We love you all so much!

Childlike Faith - Puzzle Fundraiser

I've been seeing these puzzle fundraisers all over the place, so I thought, why not?? For those of you who aren't familiar with them, you simply purchase a puzzle, and you sell the pieces for $3, $5, or $10 a piece. When someone chooses to purchase one (or sponsor), you write their name on the back of the piece. It's a neat idea that, once completed, looks really cool framed backwards with all the names showing. To see what one looks like when it's completed, click this link.

Puzzle Fundraiser - "Childlike Faith" 300 pieces

This puzzle spoke to me on many levels. One because obviously, a childlike faith, is what we must seek; innocent and pure. Second, it immediately made me think of our little Xmas miracle that will be here soon, and how important it is to raise him up to know, and more importantly, love our precious Savior. They will be $5 a piece to sponsor. 300 pieces at $5 a piece = $1500    :)

Between this puzzle fundraiser, the Gold Canyon candle sales (starting very soon), grants, and anonymous donations, I'm hoping to raise enough before the end of the year so we'll be able to completely pay off all attorney/court fees from the domestic adoption, as well as have enough to send our dossier to Ethiopia. I know this might seem lofty, but we serve a big God, and for Him, this is nothing. He delights in the provisions of orphans.

If you're feeling led to sponsor some puzzle pieces, you can click the donate tab on the right side of the page. Just let me know what names you want on your pieces :) Or if you want to mail a check (and avoid any PayPal fees), let me know and I'll send you our address. Thank you all so much for the support. Blessings!!!

Both Hands Project!!

Hey everybody!! Well it's been a couple weeks since the golf scramble, and if you can't tell, I'm getting a little stir crazy with all this free time :) I didn't use to be this way. Doing nothing used to be one of my favorite things, but God has really been working on me lately (in preparation for our new arrival maybe). I've discovered that I'm now one of those people who likes having some kind of project going on. Over the past couple months, the golf scramble has been that fix that I need. Now that that has come to pass, I need something else.

I mentioned in an earlier post about the Both Hands project that our friends did through Lifesong For Orphans and it was hugely successful!! As I've mentioned before, we've definitely kicked the idea around, however, I'm thinking now is a good time to get the ball rolling on it. As I type this, I'm getting together the application and all the necessary paperwork. I'm shooting for sometime in the Spring as the actual work-day.

As always, your thoughts and prayers would mean so much. I'm praying that we won't have any trouble finding a widow to serve; that we can assemble a great team of workers; get all the necessary materials for the project donated; and of course, above all else, glorify our Lord and Savior.

Most Sincere Thanks!!!

Hey guys!!! God reminded me of something this morning as I was driving into work, and I feel that it's meant to be shared:

Leslie and I are so incredibly lucky!!!!! Not because of any material possessions we may have, but because of the friends and family God has blessed us with. When I reflect back on ALL of our fundraisers, I'm reminded of the sacrifices each and every one of you made, to make them the success that they were. It's because of you that we are where we are, and it's because of you, that one day, when we're sitting with our future children, we can tell them the tale of how God stirred the hearts of our friends and family, and knitted together the most precious ending we could have ever dreamed of. As I write this, I still don't know what that ending is, but, knowing our sovereign God, it will be nothing short of miraculous (no adjective quite expresses what I mean there!!). I can't see there little faces, but I picture Leslie and I surrounded by them; all laughing and smiling, and truly cherishing those precious, precious God-given moments.

I would like to close this in prayer. Not in the typical, selfish manner that I normally do (where I ask for your prayers). This morning, I'd like to pray on your behalf. I pray that God blesses you as you have blessed us. You are storing up massive amounts of treasure in heaven, and I wait with anticipation to one day stand before the Lord, and thank Him for each and every one of you. With so much love and thanks, God bless you all!

What's Next?!

Fall is here, and our fundraising schedule is wide open :) I think this is the first time since we started our adoption journey that we haven't had some major fundraising event coming up. It's kind of nice, but then again, I feel like I'm wasting time. Instead of taking a break, and enjoying the down time, I started googling "adoption fundraising ideas," (like I do pretty much every week) and I think I've got some ideas.

Here's a couple things we've been kicking around, but haven't set in stone:
1.) Both Hands Project through Lifesong. This is a really cool way for adopting families to raise money for their adoption, while providing some kind of home renovation project for a widow. A couple of our friends did this, and they said it was absolutely amazing. After watching their video you'll see why. To successfully pull this off, we will need some serious help. We need a team of roughly 10 to 15 people.
2.) Gold Canyon Candles through a family friend of ours, Paige Miller. This is going to be great just before the holidays as people are looking for gift ideas. We'll have about 2 to 3 weeks to sell as many candles as we can. We have three or four of us so far that will be selling them, but we could always use a few more volunteers. We'll be provided with scratch and sniff sheets that have the different scents on them. Best of all, we'll be receiving anywhere from 38 to 40% of the total sales.
3.) Restaurant Eat-In Fundraisers. There are quite a few restaurants that give a percentage of sales back from all the people you bring.

New idea to consider:
1.) Signature Tiles - Let's see, how do I describe what I'm picturing in my head. OK, do you know the little sheets of paper at stores and restaurants that if you donate $ you get to write your name on it, and they put it on the wall with all the others?? I'm thinking we could do some like 3x3 inch plastic tiles (or something) and people can make a donation of any amount, and decorate the tile for us to put up in a certain place in the nursery/kids room.

If anybody has some other ideas, feedback in general, or wants to help with any of the above mentioned events, please email or comment below. We would love to get you involved. Thanks and God bless!!

Paperwork, Paperwork, And More Paperwork!

Does the paperwork ever end??? Is the question I ask all you fellow adopters (probably not a word) out there :)

Before we got the AMAZING news about being chosen by a birth mother (our domestic adoption), we had been working on our dossier for our Ethiopian adoption. Amidst all the craziness that had been going on since we got the news (fundraisers, lawyer mumbo-jumbo, nursery), our Ethiopian dossier had been temporarily put on the back burner. In addition to the dossier, we have an almost identical stack of paperwork we must complete for the domestic adoption.

Our goal is to wrap up the domestic paperwork as soon as we can. And then to have our Ethiopian dossier completed and sent out before little man comes in December. We know the referral process is a waiting game (loooooonng waiting game), so we're looking forward to spending that time changing poopy diapers and growing to attached to our first child :)

At this stage, we could really use some prayer and support. We know it will all be worth it once we're done and our babies are home. I keep telling myself it's just a stack of paperwork standing in between us and our future family (and time of course, and don't forget money,  etc. etc.).      Blessings!!!!!

Golf Scramble Success!

Well, the (First Annual) Dalton Adoption Golf Scramble has came and went, and all we're left with is a pile of cash :) We were able to raise money for our adoptions, and we had a great time doing it. I don't think a bunch of amateurs like us could've done any better!! We'll be posting a bunch of pictures as soon as we can.

Before I go on, I'd like to thank everyone who donated to the event (coffee, food, merchandise, time, etc.); if it wasn't for your all's generosity, we wouldn't have been able to hold such a successful event. I'd also like to give a big shout out to all of our generous participants. Your support means so much, and because of you, we were able to raise a great deal of money that will aid in our providing forever homes for two orphans.

Most importantly, we want to thank God. Thank You for giving us each a passion for orphans, and for blessing every path we take that leads to them. Please continue to bless the adoption community as we know You will.

It's been weighing pretty heavily on my heart that we should make this an annual event. This time next year (unless God moves a BIG mountain) we will most likely be fundraising the remaining portion of our international adoption. If we've already exceeded our goals, whatever money we raise, we want to donate to another family here in Louisville that is trying to overcome the financial burden associated with adopting. The adoption community has been so welcoming and supportive, we thought we'd like to give back by blessing other adopting families through our (soon to be annual event) Dalton Adoption Golf Scramble.

If you have any interest in participating in next year's event, please leave a comment below, or send us an email. We would love to get you involved.

Tomorrow's The Big Day!!

We are finally going to meet with the birth mother of our sweet little Christmas baby. We couldn't be more excited. Just think, in another 20 hours or so, we'll be in the same room as our son!! Would it be inappropriate if we went straight to her tummy and started talking to the baby?? Yeah you're probably right; we'll wait for the second meeting :)

With the first birth mother who chose us, we were only able to talk over the phone, nothing in person. So this will definitely be a first for us. I want us to get to know her as well as we can over the next few months because there will come a time when he really starts asking questions, and I want to be able to answer as many of them as I can.

Keep us in your prayers over the next day or so. We really want this to go well. I hope to update you guys soon. Love you all. God bless!!!

What A Surprise!!!

If you've been following our journey for a while, you might've noticed a pattern. It goes something like this:

Step 1: Eagerly set out with the intention of planning the most successful fundraiser EVER!!!
Step 2: Spirits remain high as we go through the initial phases of planning the event.
Step 3: Panic (literally). Time is ticking by and were not getting many responses.
Step 4: God shows up and blows our mind!

I write this because here we are..... again.... Resting comfortably in step 4, and having barely escaped step 3 with our sanity. It was only a couple weeks ago that we had basically nobody signed up for the golf scramble. A room full of raffle items, and no participants. These are the times that I forget the kind of God we serve. I knew going into it, no matter what, it was going to make some money. Didn't know if it would be the greatest fundraiser of all time, or just mediocre, but I knew we would end up making something. Needless to say, as of yesterday, we have ALL 48 SPOTS FILLED :)

Throughout the adoption process, step 4 has served as our reminder that we are in fact pursuing His will for our lives. He is behind everything we do. There are times where we lose our focus, and get down, but He always picks us up. We know that as Christians, nothing will ever be easy, becuase that's not His promise to us. Instead He promises to be with us, and that is exactly what He does!

God bless you all!

Softball Tournament Info!

Well, Chris has done it again. He went and made us another awesome flyer (flyer below)!!!. The event will be held at Middletown Elementary on October 13th. I am in the process of getting stuff donated so we can raffle them off to the participants. If you have any questions, comments, or advice about this event, or if you'd like to participate, please email me, leave a comment below, or call the numbers listed on the flyer. We want this to be as successful as all of our other fundraisers and with the friends and family that we have, we know it will be :) We love you guys so much!

Countdown to Christmas!!

Most of you already know, but for those who don't, this countdown isn't actually for Christmas. It's more like the countdown for our Christmas present (109 DAYS). The only difference is instead of unwrapping gift wrap, it'll be a poopy diaper :) But we couldn't be more excited!! This years holiday season will be one we'll never forget.

Lately we've been getting his nursery ready and stocking up on diapers. We got his crib ordered earlier this week and I can't wait to put it together (sarcasm). I may have most people fooled into thinking I'm a pretty manly man, but when it comes to tools, I'm useless. I'd rather be pounding my head against a wall then turning a wrench. Either way, for my baby boy, I'm happy to do it. It'll probably take me a week though because I'll want to make sure I'm doing it right.

QUICK FUNDRAISER UPDATE: We still have the golf scramble planned for September 29th at Tanglewood Golf Course. We only have spots for twelve teams so if you're wanting to sign up, now's the time :) We're also planning a softball tournament for October 13th (more info to follow). As you can see from the thermometer on the right, we're making good progress, but we still have a long way to go. If you're feeling called to donate, just click the yellow donate button and it will walk you through it. If you want to sign up for one of our fundraisers, send me an email, or leave a comment below and we'll be in touch.

Please continue to pray for us, the birth mother, and our precious little baby. We love you all so much. God bless!!

Nursery Preparation :) (Pictures coming)

Lots of commotion around the Dalton household over the last day or so, and probably the next several. We have officially began putting together the nursery :) Yesterday consisted of lots of heavy lifting; we swapped furniture from the office to the guest bedroom, and what was the office, is now being transformed into the nursery. Then we headed over to our nearest Lowe's and starting looking at paint colors.

Leslie has had some great ideas for color, decor, etc. and from the looks of it, it's going to be awesome! As I type this, she is at home painting (say a little prayer for her). She's doing giraffe spots on the one wall, and green on the other three. Then she's going to spell out his name real big in orange over the crib. I can't wait to see the end result!!

We should be going to meet the birth mother for the first time in the coming weeks, and I'm really hoping we can show her some pictures of the little guy's room! Out attorneys are in the process of working that out. Given her situation, there are a couple extra steps, involved, but we should be nearing the end of it. Next Tuesday we have to sign some documents, and following that, we should be good to go.

Please continue to keep Amber (birth mother) and our precious little boy in your prayers. Pray there kept warm at night, and there tummies are full, and more than anything, someone is sharing the gospel with her (or at least reminding her). We'll know more about her after our meeting, but for now, just be in continual prayer. We love you all so much!!!!

QODA Golf Bag - Scramble Item

Hey all you golfers out there, I just the golf bag of your dreams! The wonderful people from QODA golf donated one of their awesome Quan bags for our event. This thing is a beauty. Amazon has them listed at $175, and I can see why. I honestly think they could charge more. (I'm debating on keeping it for myself :) just kidding of course) This will be one of our silent auction items. To participate, sign up for the scramble, come on out to Tanglewood golf course on September 29th, and place your winning bid. Love you guys!!

Spreading The Word - Adoption Support Day

Hey guys, in light of the inappropriate comments from the soon-to-be unemployed Pat Robertson, Kelly from the Minus 1 Project had this to say, and I share in her sentiments:

"Adoption support day
In response to Pat Robertson's ridiculous adoption comments, I propose that everyone who disagrees with his statements show their support of adoption by making at least one purchase from Minus 1 Project store,, this Wednesday.

Spread the word!

(Super smart move by Chick Fil A, so I thought we would give it a try... ;)

And that is all, as some of you have asked, you will get as to my thoughts on Mr. Robertson's comments.   I think it was obvious that it was his personal feelings and not the feelings of our Heavenly Father toward the fatherless.  Just a shame that he has such a large platform and broad spectrum of followers that he has the opportunity to influence."

Time to stand up for what we believe in and support the adoption community. Love you all.

Our Little Xmas Miracle!

Well, if you saw yesterday's Wordless Wednesday post, you may have some lingering questions.... The answer is, YES!!!! We're having a baby boy!!!!! A local birth mother has chosen us and she is due on Christmas day! I guess that's good and bad because, yes, we want him to come ASAP, but then again, we do have a lot to do in preparation of his arrival. This will allow us plenty of time to prepare his very masculine nursery, as well as hold a few more fundraising events (golf scramble, softball tournament, Gold Canyon candle sales).

Honestly, as God's timing always is, it will work out perfectly. I'll even be able to complete my bachelor's degree before he get's here. Thanks to Leslie's research regarding Jefferson Community College, I've switched over as a visiting student so I can complete my last four classes by the beginning of December. As I said before, His timing is always so perfect.

Now we're on the hunt for a crib, baby furniture, etc. We had some great friends donate a room full of baby toys which has already filled the room we plan on using for the nursery. That's such a good problem to have though :)

Right now, more than anything, I am requesting your prayers. Not for me, but for the birth mother, and that precious little baby boy growing inside her. Pray for their continued health; that their every need be provided; that God will somehow work His way into her life; and that He be glorified. It's very easy to succumb to the stresses of domestic and international adoption, but right now, we have to lean on Him. We love you all so much, and we look forward to sharing every detail of this with you!

Why I Am I Continually Surprised?!?!

God has been with us every step of the way, and yet, every time we have some kind of event/ fundraiser thing coming up, I fear it won't be successful. Unfortunately there might be lots of issues there, but on the bright side, God is good! We had our Haircut/Yard sale/Bake sale thing at Leslie's work this past weekend and we doubled my goal :)

I would like to thank all of Leslie's coworkers who so graciously allowed us to have this event on their busiest day, as well as donating yard sale stuff, bake sale stuff, and more importantly, their time. You all are so awesome, and I am so glad Leslie gets to spend her days with people like you (And no wonder she's in such a good mood when she gets home). Thank you to all of our volunteers who gave up their free time to hang in the hot sun with us (it was actually more fun than work, I think). A big thank you to all of you who came and supported us as well. Without your generosity we wouldn't be where we are. And last but certainly not least:

Thank you Father God.
Thank you for being all that we need.
Thank you for our every provision.
And thank you, thank you, thank you for Jesus!!

Also, don't forget to get signed up for the golf scramble!!! We have a limited number of spots (12 teams total). So if you haven't already, mail us a check, or send the money through PayPal, along with the team members and team name to ensure your spot. I'm really praying we fill all twelve spots, so keep spreading the word. Love you guys.

Praying For God's Blessing!

Tomorrow is our Haircut-a-thon/Parking-lot yard sale/Bake sale at Leslie's work, and we are praying that it will be a success. They are supposed to have a pretty busy Saturday on top of our fundraiser, so hopefully we'll see a great turnout. God has continued to show up when we needed Him, and right now, we need Him. Please pray with us, asking God for yet another successful fundraiser. We thank you all for the love and support you have continued to provide, and we thank God for each and every one of you :)

Golf Scramble Donations :)

God is good!!! The favorable responses from local business owners, as well as large corporations, continue to amaze me. It seems like daily I'm getting a response from someone wanting to donate to it. Our recent donations include Qdoba, McAlister's, Pizza Hut, Tumbleweed,, and Makers Mark Lounge. I would like to personally thank all of you wonderful individuals out there that have chosen to help with this scramble. Your generosity means so much to us, and we will do whatever it takes to repay you.

If you're wanting to help but you don't know how, no problem. This is what we need, GOLFERS!!  :)  One of the best things you can do for us is to spread the word about the event. All the donations won't mean anything if we don't have any golfers to give them to.

WAYS TO HELP - Put something on your Facebook page about it; send an email to your friends and family; monetary or raffle item contribution; see if your work will allow some kind of office-wide communication regarding the event. If you can't help out in any of these ways, could you please pray for us. More than anything, we need prayer.

God bless you all!

Golf Scramble Raffle Items!

Well guys and gals, I don't think they'll be a shortage of give-a-ways and raffle items for the golf scramble :)  Monday I started reaching out to local companies, restaurants, etc. and we already have quite a few items. I'm going to keep a running list on the new tab created up top entitled "Golf Scramble."

So far the Louisville Bats have sent us free tickets, Actors Theater is sending us a voucher that can be traded in for two tickets to any show during their 2012-2013 season. Fitness 19 is donating two 3-month memberships with three personal training visits for each, and Texas Roadhouse is sending us some gift certificates. This is just the beginning hopefully. There's no doubt in my mind, God is going to show up big time at this event, like He has with every one of our other fundraisers.

Keep checking in for more updates, as well as spreading the word about the event. We can't do it without you guys. Love you all.

Week Off From Fundraising!

Hey everybody!! I 'm sorry I haven't posted anything in a while. I think coming off that crazy-awesome yard sale we had, and having to reschedule the car wash due to rain, I needed a break :) Not because I'm tired or worn out, but I think I'm running low on ideas, and just wanted to shut it down for a while. Normally all I'm ever thinking about are the adoptions (Ethiopian and domestic), fundraising ideas, etc. etc. I needed a week off.

I'm happy to tell you, I'm back!!!! Time to get back on that fundraising horse! And speaking of fundraisers.... Do you all remember those adorable bracelets our friend Amy made for us?? They have been selling like crazy at Leslie's salon. She put up a little display with our picture and such, and the ladies have been loving them (Thank you soooo much Amy).

Also, don't forget about the 1st-Annual-Dalton-Adoption-Golf-Scramble. We are set for September 29th, 2012. For more info, click here. I still need some help pulling together raffle items. I'm open to basically anything so feel free to email, call, or post something below. Also, please continue to spread the word about it. It's going to be loads of fun, you won't want to miss it!

Please continue to pray for our journey. Pray that God will be glorified throughout. And that every orphan will oneday be brought home. With love....

Prayers For 'Gift Of Adoption'

Hey guys, Gift of Adoption is a wonderful organization who awards grants to families that are going through the adoption process. They have helped countless families get over that last fundraising hump by providing the funds necessary to bring their baby home. At the moment, or at least over the coming weeks/month, our application is being formally submitted to their grant selection committee. This is big news because from what I've read, not all the applications go that far; only the 'chosen' ones advance to the committee.

I can't imagine the difficulty that must come with making the decisions they are making, but I pray God gives them clarity of mind through out. I pray that His will be done. As desperately as we want/need this, I know there are others that could use it more than us. Please pray that no matter what decision is made by the committee, God is honored, and an orphan is rescued!!!!!!!

We love you all so much, and we thank God daily for your prayers and support. God bless you all.

Dalton Adoption Golf Scramble 9/29/12

**Dalton Adoption Golf Scramble September 29th, 2012**
**Tanglewood Golf Course 8am Start time**

Hey everybody, we settled on a date for the scramble. September 29th, Tanglewood golf course, $50 entrance fee. This is going to be a best-ball scramble. If possible, we would like to receive all payments by the end of August so we can go ahead and settle up with the golf course so we won't have any hick-ups the day of. Also, please know that every penny raised from this event will go directly towards our adoption expenses.

If you are wanting to participate, please respond back with a confirmation. If you have a foursome, or multiple, that's great, you can go ahead and create your own teams. Just let me know the participants names, and the team name. And for all the individual golfers wanting to participate, we will create teams later once we have a confirmed total.

Also, we still need help with raffle items, door prizes, give-a-ways, etc. so if you have any ideas please let us know.

Please forward to all your golf friends and family as we desperately need your help. I only know a handful of golfers, so left up to me, this event won't be much. But with the loving support of our friends and family, we can make this one hugely successful adoption scramble/fundraiser.

Love you all!

Recharged and Ready For More :)

Hey everybody. It's been a little over a week now since our yard sale, and I think we have officially recharged our batteries and we are ready for the next fundraising event. Below are some fundraising updates:

1.) As you can see on the thermometer (---->), we have jumped up to the $10k mark. We are officially 1/3 of the way to our goal. And to think, just 4 or 5 months ago we were starting this with next to nothing  :) God is good!

2.) Unfortunately, I just got word that I'll be working this Saturday so I won't be able to get to the car wash until much later (after 5pm). Most likely everyone will be so worn out from that hot summer sun, it will probably be over with by then. But, (wink, wink) we could still use a couple more volunteers!

3.) ***Golf Scramble Update***  I'm looking into a September 29th date. For all those interested, please email or comment below. I'm praying for a good turnout :)

4.) Once we get a little closer to Fall, we are going to begin our Gold Canyon Candle Fundraiser. One of our family friends, Paige Miller, has been kind enough to get us set up for this. I will have more details on this soon, but for now, please check out her website and be considering helping us fundraise either by purchasing candles, or by being one of our sales people.

Thank you all so much for your prayers and support! We love you all!

To God Be The Glory!!

I just want to begin by thanking God for the most exhausting week I can remember. We went into this yard sale with a very modest goal for the $ amount we could raise, but God had other plans. I think He wanted to use this time to remind us that He is in control of this adoption, and though $30,000 seems impossible to fundraise, all is possible through Him.

By Friday evening we had already cleared our goal, and the yard sale hadn't officially begun. We were amazed. We didn't know what to expect going into it so we kept our sights low. And apparently, we even marked our items to low. So low that we had a lady tell us on Friday that we weren't charging enough (we promptly raised most of the prices after that). The most amazing part of the whole process was the people. Once they realized the money was going towards our adoption, everybody wanted to chat, swap stories, and most importantly, no one wanted to haggled with us. I thought for sure I would have to fight a lady over a nickel at some point, but it never really happened :)

People were thrilled to find out that most of the items had been donated, and that all of the money was going directly towards our adoption expenses. I even had a lady walk up to me and hand me $20. I asked her where her items were, and she responded, "I don't need anything, but I wanted you to have this." And this was a total stranger. Even sitting here at my desk, 48 hours later, it brings me to tears.

I also want to thank all of you wonderful people out there who very graciously donated your unused items, as well as your time. Because of you, and your generosity, this yard sale was a huge success. God bless you all!

Hand-made Bracelets For Only $5!

One of our best friends saw these on Pinterest, and began making them for us so we can sell them at our yard sales, fundraisers, etc. I am amazed by how great they turned out. Not because I doubt our friends jewelry-making skills (How could I Amy?), but because they are made entirely of ribbons and coke tabs. That's it!! She even went on to say how addictive they are to make once you get started. Good thing for us right?!?!

We're going to ask $5 per bracelet. If you live in the Louisville area we can deliver them, or if you are an out-of-towner, just click on the PayPal donation button on the right, and we can ship it to you. Please add $2 for shipping :)

Special Guest Blog Writer - Julie Steed!!

Hey guys, we have a very special guest-post today from Julie Steed, of Worthyoftheprize. Let's give her a nice round of applause :) And thanks again Julie, for everything!!!

"I wanted to first start off by saying how thankful I am for Mike allowing me to guest blog. My name is Julie Steed and I am the Adoption Fundraising director for . Our goal at Worthy of the prize is to help you reach your full potential in Christ no matter where you are on your journey. Adoption Ministry is just one of the many things going on our blog. We also do Sports Camps, and give out giveaways regularly on the blog! One of the main goals of the blog is supporting families that are in the process of adopting a child. Each month we feature a new family. During this month the family can promote our Chosen Child wrist bands and all the proceeds will go to the featured family. It doesn’t matter how many or how little each family sells during the month, we want to help support them in their journey and feel this is one way we can help!

We have chosen the Dalton family for the Month of June. You can still support till Saturday by purchasing a wrist band on our blog Shop. We have loved getting to know the Dalton family and are excited about their journey. We encourage other families who want help in fundraising to check our site as we still have openings for a few months in 2012!"

*Creative Fundraising Ideas For Adopting Families*

Most posts on this blog are directed specifically towards 'our' adoption, and what 'we' are doing to raise money, and blah, blah, blah. Well, today I wanted to change that. I wanted to provide a running list of some of the best fundraising idea's out there for adopting families, or really anyone that's needing to raise money. As most of you know, I'm not a creative person, so basically all of these idea's were given to me in some way or another, but regardless of their origin, I hope they prove to be successful for you :)

1.) Yard Sales.
5.) Sell homemade ornaments (Thanks JT & Natalie).
8.) Personalized blog, with a PayPal donation link.
10.) Cookbook fundraiser.

As you can see, some of these have been linked because we have tried them, and we have more information available on them. Others are linked to a wonderful couple that has gone down this road before, and is doing so again, so please, check out JT and Natalie's site. They are a wealth of information (thanks again for dinner guys).

And a much deserved thank you to all of you who have contributed to this list, as I pray God uses it to bless many, many, more families!!! Love you all.

--June 30th Yard Sale--

Hey everyone, just wanted to let you all know we are having our big yard sale this weekend in Locust Creek subdivision. Please keep us in your prayers. Pray that our first ever yard sale goes smoothly and that the generosity of many is well rewarded.

June 30th, from 8:00am to 1:00pm (officially). This is a neighborhood wide yard sale so there will be a lot of traffic. If you know some people that enjoy yard sales, you may want to tell them about this. Locust Creek is located off of Shelbyville Rd., just a little ways past Lake Forest and Polo Fields. For further information please leave a comment below, or shoot me an email. Also, it's not too late if you have some stuff you would like to donate, we would be thrilled to come by and pick it up.

Thanks again to everyone who has so graciously donated their stuff and their time to make this yard sale a success. And thanks to all of you who have been praying for us and our journey, as they have been much needed. God bless!!

Car Washers Needed!?!?

July 14th, 12:00pm, American Founders Bank, in Shelbyville, Ky.

Hey everyone, we have decided to move the golf scramble back to August or September, so we could get more participants, as well as raffle items. For the time being, we decided to do a car wash out in Shelbyville. We have already worked out all the details so all that's left is the volunteers :)

The more the merrier here guys. I think so far we have 4 or 5, but we probably need upwards of 10 to run efficiently (more if possible). Please comment below, or shoot us an email if you would like to help. Or if you have any suggestions on how to run this car wash more effectively, I would appreciate that as well. Also, and most important, please continue to keep us in your prayers. We can't do this without Him, or you :) Love you guys!

1st Annual Dalton Adoption Golf Scramble!

Well, the U.S. Open is upon us and it got me thinking. I know, I know.. "Don't hurt yourself Mike." And for those of you who are concerned, I want you to know that I'm OK. But seriously, I got thinking about another fun and creative way to fundraise for our adoption. The 1st-Annual-Dalton-Adoption-Golf-Scramble?!?! I'm talking to a couple different courses at the moment so as soon as I nail down a date, I'll post it here on the blog. Right now we're shooting for August or September.

The questions I pose to you loyal readers out there are:
1.) Any ideas on how we could get some items donated to raffle off at the event?
2.) Would a $50/75 entrance fee be acceptable?
3.) Anyone know someone at a local course that could assist with the logistics?
4.) Any advice in general, because I certainly need it?!

I think this could be a great way to raise a little bit of money and also, get everyone together and have a great time, which we don't get to do enough!

Any and all feedback is much appreciated :) Love you guys.

Dalton House Adoption Update!

Hey guys, hope everyone is well. Quick update on the adoption stuff. We are about to make another payment to Lifeline (thanks to all of you who keep generously giving, in so many ways) and following that, we begin putting together our dossier. We still have a ton of online education requirements that we must complete as well, so we'll be knocking those out over the coming weeks.

We are still planning on having our big yard sale on June 30th, in Locust Creek subdivision. If you have any items you wish to donate, please let us know as we would love to come pick them up. For more information on this or our other fundraisers click here

Also, please support us by stopping by the shop at Worthy Of The Prize. All the proceeds from their 'Chosen Child' adoption bands are going directly towards our adoption costs, as well as Cap Creation's proceeds from their 'Chosen' necklaces.

Thank you so much for all the support. We really appreciate everything you're doing for us :) Please continue to keep us in your prayers, as we do you. Love you all.

Many Many Thanks!

Hey guys! Our Sunday fundraiser couldn't have gone better, and we owe it all to the very special group of individuals that organized it, set up, spread the word, and gave financially. For those still interested, we will have links put up to the vendors that are allowing for additional online orders such as Amanda from Thirty-One.

We don't have a total yet from the fundraiser, but I know we did really well. Thanks again to all of you who participated :) We love you all so much!

As I've mentioned in previous posts, has chosen us for the month of June so all the proceeds from their Chosen Bands (pictured above on right top and bottom) as well as $10 from every necklace sold at Cap Creations (pictured on the left) goes directly to our adoption agency! We are so excited about this. We know the month of June is going to be huge for us, and it's all because of you wonderful people out there. If it weren't for you, we might never be able to bring our sweet little baby home.

Be sure to check out our Fundraising Efforts page to see our other fundraisers, and please, more than anything, just keep us in your prayers!! With love-

Birth Mother Update and a Big Fundraising Weekend

We don't know all the details yet, but Marissa (birth mother that chose us for domestic adoption) went in to labor on Wednesday. At some point in the process she telephoned our social worker and informed her that she has decided to keep her baby. Marissa has been very honest with us from the beginning. We knew she was struggling with the decision, and I think we weren't surprised. We are so excited for her. We knew that whatever decision she made, it was going to be win-win, and we were going to support it. Either she was going to give him up to a loving family, or she was going to raise him herself. Either way, we knew the baby would be loved, cared, and provided for. If we get more details on Marissa and Garrett, and anyone is interested, I would be happy to update you, just leave a comment below, or email me :)

This weekend is going to be huge for our fundraising. This Sunday is our big fundraising event with all the different vendors coming (Scentsy, Tastefully Simple, Adorable Aprons, Gold Canyon, Pampered Chef, Thirty-One, Premier Jewelry). Everyone has been so generous, donating their time in preparation for the event, donating their time the day of, donating their commission, and a host of other ways. We appreciate all of you, and everything you are doing. You mean the world to us. I hope one day we are in a position to help others the way you all have so generously helped us!

If there is any last minute interest in coming or questions regarding the event, please comment below, or send me an email. We can also arrange online orders if there are any items of interest to you from the vendors listed above. Just let me know. Love you all :)

Worthy Of The Prize Fundraiser

Hey everybody. Before I go on about the fundraiser, I want to begin by thanking each and every one of you.Your prayers and support have meant so much to us. We could never do this without you guys :)
Now....I introduce to you, the sponsored family for the month of June on Dalton's!!!! We are so excited about this. The people at Worthyoftheprize have been so great (and incredibly generous) to do this for us.

Some of you may be wondering what this means. Basically, the kind people over at Worthyoftheprize select a different family each month to sponsor. During that month, all the proceeds from their "Chosen Child" bands, as well as their "Chosen" necklaces, go to the sponsored family's adoption agency. It's as simple as that!

We are really hoping everybody can help us spread the word about this. Please click the Facebook share button to the right so we can generate as much traffic as possible. Thank you all for your support.

If you're looking to support us by donation, please click the "Donate" tab on the top right of the page. Or you can go to our T-Shirt's page and order shirts. 100% of your donations are going directly towards the fees and expenses related to adopting. Love you all.
